An excerpt from an actual letter to the editor of The Georgia Straight:
The gentleman at the table beside us was wearing running shoes, jeans, and a sports hat, which he kept on his head for the duration of his meal. Personally, I found this to be offensive, and the only thing that stopped me from saying something to him about his manners was my husband’s embarrassment.
The whole letter is pretty over-the-top. The best part? Vij’s (the restaurant in question) is not a formal establishment, nor does it pretend to be. Heck, it doesn’t even take reservations (despite repeated demands from jackasses with entitlement issues). It may be pricey, and deservedly so, but that’s hardly the same thing.
I can see why the author’s husband would have been embarrassed by her attitude. I sure as hell would have been.
